MarketMind ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

Account information: Your email address and a securely hashed password when you register.
Portfolio data: Ticker symbols, share quantities, and purchase prices you enter into your portfolio tracker.
Price alerts: The asset symbols, price thresholds, and conditions you configure.
Subscription status: Whether you are on a free or Pro plan. We do not store payment card numbers, CVVs, or bank details — all payment processing is handled directly by Stripe.
Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and approximate access times for service improvement.

2. How We Use Your Information

Authentication: To verify your identity when you log in.
Price alerts: To monitor asset prices and notify you when your configured thresholds are triggered.
AI analysis: Portfolio holdings and alert context may be passed to our AI engine (powered by Anthropic Claude) solely to generate personalized market insights. No personally identifying information is included in these prompts.
Service communications: To send you alert notifications and important account emails. We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
Service improvement: Aggregated, anonymized usage patterns help us improve the platform.

3. Third-Party Services

MarketMind integrates with the following third-party services to deliver its features:

Anthropic Claude API — AI-powered market analysis. Text snippets of news headlines and anonymized portfolio context may be processed by Anthropic. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Yahoo Finance — Real-time and historical stock and index prices. No user data is sent to Yahoo Finance.
CoinGecko — Cryptocurrency price data. No user data is sent to CoinGecko.
Stripe — Subscription billing and payment processing. Stripe receives your email and payment card details directly. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy. We never see or store your card number.
RSS Feeds — Public news feeds from CNBC, Reuters, CoinDesk, TechCrunch, and others. No user data is transmitted to these sources.

4. Data Security

Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage. We never store plaintext passwords.
We do not store credit card numbers, CVVs, or any raw payment data. Stripe handles all card processing in a PCI-compliant environment.
Access to user data is restricted to authenticated systems only.
We use HTTPS for all data transmission between your browser and our servers.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Deletion: Request that we delete your account and associated personal data.
Export: Request an export of your portfolio and alert data in a machine-readable format.
Opt-out: Unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time.

7. Cookies

We use a single session token stored in your browser's localStorage for authentication purposes only. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
